The new traditional ruler of Kumba and Paramount Ruler of the Bafaws has been coronated.
The coronation of Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko that took place on Saturday, April 24 2021 in a low keyed ceremony officiated by the Bafaw Supreme Traditional Council, Ngwa’Bafaw .
In what was supposed to be a purely traditional occasion, religious bodies stole the show.
The colourful ceremony was attended by the President of the South West Regional Council , the President of the South West House of Chiefs, four chiefs from the North West Region, the Mayors of Kumba I and III, all the chiefs from the nine Bafaw villages and a cross section of the population who were permitted to enter the esplande of the Nfon’s Palace.
The coronation was conducted at a time when Senator Nfon V. E Mukete ” who ruled Kumba since the early sixties ” disappeared ” few weeks aback.
However, before his disappearance, he had in March 2020 held a meeting with the Bafaw Supreme Traditional Council, Ngwa’Bafaw and designated Ekoko Leonard Mukete as the new chief of Kumba. This was immediately followed by a correspondence he addressed to the Prime Minister via the Meme SDO captioned ” Declaration of Succession of a First Class Chieftaincy in Kumba Chiefdom and Paramount Chief of the Bafaw Tribe wherein he stressed that Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko is the new Ruler of Kumba and the Bafaw Tribe.
Following this confirmation, Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko started work already and during an ecumincal service for peace later in 2020, Nfon V. E Mukete used the occasion to present Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko to the Kumba public as the new chief.

He was born some 54 years ago. The holder of an A/ L certificate in Gordonstoum School, Elign Scotland, a school famous for the training of the British Royal family, he later obtained a B.A ( Hons) in Development Economics from the University of East Norwich UK.
The New Paramount Ruler of the Bafaw Tribe, is Honorary Consul of the Republic of Turkey, to the Republic of Cameroon with residence in Douala. He is the Vice President of the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Craft. He is a Board member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Board member of the CAPAM and Cameroon Investment Promotion Agency, IP.
