After Biya’s authorization, Youth Minister to launch Feb 11 activities Jan 30 in Far North

“The President of the Republic, Paul Biya has authorized us to organize the official celebration of the 55th edition of the National Youth Day in strict respect of barrier measures,” announced Youth Affairs and Civic Education Minister, Mounouna Foutsou as he chaired via video conference in Yaounde, the 3rd and last preparatory meeting ahead of the 55th edition of the National Youth Day in Cameroon last January 26, 2021.
He further explained that “Under the very high instruction of the President of the Republic, H.E Paul Biya, the offi-cial celebration of this year’s National Youth Day will hold on the theme “Youth, Resilience, Challenges and Oppor-tunities in times of COVID19.”
Disclosing that national harmonised selected activities will hold online as well as physical in strict respect of barrier measures prescribed by the government in line with the World Health Organization, WHO, the Youth Affairs and Civic Education boss announced that activities to mark this year’s celebration will officially be launched in Meri in Diamare Division of the Far North region from 30 Jan to February 2, 2021


He stressed that the celebration is a reminder of the role and responsibility of Cameroon youths who are called upon to use their fighting spirit in order to transform present difficulties into opportunities.
At the demand of the Minister, a digital platform of the Youth Village for the National Youth Day www.village.cm was presented online.
Describing the Virtual Youth Village as major innovation in this year’s celebration, Minister Mounouna Foutsou ex-plained that it will boost the participation of many youths online following the limitation of physical presence.
The Head of State’s accord it should be recalled was notified to the Minister last January 15, 2021 by the Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh.
