A Non-Governmental Organisation by name K-Towners International, created through the initiative of sons and daughters of Kumba across the globe, with headquarters in Texas USA, took Kumba, Meme Division of the South West Region, by storm over the weekend, with multiple anti COVID-19 messages.
Coordinated by the Secretary General of the organisation, Barrister Beze Bejeje Nkem, the caravan saw the group, including some members of the Caritas Movement of the Kumba Diocese, stop by various markets, motor parks Councils premises etc, where they had a frank exchange with the Mayors and the Meme High Court officials in Kumba. They also distributed close to 10,600 face masks to the population, in the course of the exercise.
In each of the stops, the team reiterated the need to respect anti COVID-19 government measures in place to combat the virus which is really a killer pandemic. The Coordinator took time off to hammer on the point of constant washing of hands, application of hand sanitisers and to a greater extent, the respect of Social Distance by all and sundry.
It should be recalled that the intervention of K-towners International to add their voice in the fight against COVID-19 is coming on the heels of the launching of the fight against the virus in the Kumba I Sub Divisional Hospital, where the District Medical Officer, DMO, for Kumba, Dr Nefenga Emmanuel, announced that at least five persons have died due to the virus in Kumba, with close to 1,500 tested cases, where 98 have been tested positive with 89 recoveries.
