UB: 68 new appointees tasked to be efficient

The Vice Chancellor V.C. of the University of Buea UB on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 installed some 68 newly appointed staff of the institution, with a call for them to contribute to the growth, efficiency and development of the university. The installation ceremony took place at the Amphitheatre 750 of UB, presided over by the V.C., Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga.
Constituting the newly appointed list were Vice Deans of faculties, Heads of Department, Heads of Division, Heads of Service and Coordinators.
Talking at the close of the installation ceremony, UB’s VC said, “The Minister of State realised that there were so many vacant posts which had to be occupied and some to be created. That is why he took the initiative to do what he just did and our responsibility was to ensure that we effectively commission the newly appointed into their various positions and to let them know that much is expected from them”, Prof. Ngomo said.

To the newly installed staff, he urged them to follow their job definition and deliver on the expectations of the institution.
Among the newly commissioned, some were assigned to higher learning for the first time as they have been teaching only in Government High Schools under the Ministry of Secondary Education.
“I am very elated after being installed today as the coordinator for Post Graduate Programmes at the faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary medicine. This appointment came unexpectedly but I think I deserve it and that makes me happy. I was previously an assistant lecturer and now I have been upgraded to a full lecturer…this to me is coming at the right time”, Dr. Roy Mbua, one of the newly installed expressed.
According to Professor Fonge Beatrice Ambo, appointed as Head of Division for Teaching at the Academic Office, the task is a heavy one but she believes that with the help of God Almighty and the collaboration of her colleagues, she will be able to make it. “We are praying that God should give us wisdom to be able to go through successfully. It is a big office and we need to coordinate a lot”, she noted.
