 BY TALLA AGHAA CHRISTOPHER.

As tensions in the North West and South West Regions rage unabated, government has embarked on a protracted mission to fish out sympathisers and activists backing the now termed; Anglophone Crisis.

The war in the two Anglophone Regions of Cameroon referred to by activists as Southern Cameroons or “Ambazonian” is in its third year with no end in sight. The number of shootings, abductions, arrests and the burning of houses and villages by the military of suspected activists keep soaring and government is bent on fishing out all Anglophone activists be it of the SCNC, alleged Separatist Fighters and Ambazonian sympathizers for them to face charges of terrorism, secession, and propagation of false news, before the military tribunal in Yaounde.

Leaders of the virtual state of Ambazonia otherwise known as Southern Cameroons,  Seseku Ayuk Tabe, Tassang Wilfred, Barrister Eyambe , Nfor Ngala Nfor and others, were then extradited from Nigeria and placed incommunicado for close to a year and are currently standing trial at the Yaounde military. They are presently faced with charges of acts of terrorism, secession, and related offences.

His activities with SCNC included the distribution of flyers, hosting of banners and sensitization of youths of his area on the importance of the movement. These actions will later on according to reports land him on multiple arrests, detention exposing him to   inhumane conditions while in custody with the most pathetic one being in September 2018. Thanks to the assistance of one of the security operatives who developed sympathy for Buh Emmanuel Gih,while in detention, he escaped from detention and since then there has been no hiding place for him in Cameroon. Buh Emmanuel Gih will relocate to his native Ndop village  even while in the bushes together with his grand parents, unidentified persons kept on calling him that there are plans underway to arrest, detain and kill him systematically.

Cameroon which was once internationally praised as one of the most peaceful countries in the world is now struggling to cope with untold causalities from what many qualify as an unrelenting and insidious conflict.

Recent statistics by civil society organizations reflect the extent of the damage with horrific numbers. The death toll is on a perpetual rise while there are claims that about 200 villages have been burnt down in the two regions, and some 430.000 people remain internally displaced with a majority of English Speaking Cameroonians that have assumed the status of refugees in Nigeria.
